In this stand-alone, 3-hour workshop, we’ll convert your “TBR”  from burden into inspiration. A gift to yourself as we enter the darkest days.

If you’re like me, you like books around you. They are stuffed onto overfull shelves and overflow onto every surface in my house…coffee table, kitchen table, nightstand…. Some of them I’ve read over and over, some I’ve been reading for years, many I dip into and out of by turns and by mood. Essential to my writing process are the ever-changing stacks of books on my desk and on the floor of my little writing room. These books buttress my creativity. They spark a sense of possibility, conjure memories and associations, give me a way out of the gap between the last word I put down and the one I can’t yet find…they shift my thinking about how to do the thing I am trying to do.

During this workshop, we will read and write in generative bursts, will share and reflect generously on one another’s work and processes, will swap book lists, and will savor the sense that we are always working in conversation and company with other writers.

No preparation required (except you will need a stack of books). All forms welcome—poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and the in-betweens. You can arrive with something you’re working on or with a blank page.

Other Details:

• Pre-workshop communications will be conducted by email.
• If you need to withdraw, a 50% refund is available up to November 18th.
• If the workshop has under the minimum enrollment by November 19th, the workshop will be cancelled and enrolled participants will be refunded in full.
• Overenrolled participants will be kept on a waitlist and either notified of an opening or, if space hasn’t opened up, receive a full refund by November 20th.
